Jose James
Jose is one of the dopest singers out there hands down. I was hooked when I first listened to his debut The Dreamer released on Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings, and his forthcoming album Blackmagic is set for release in (possibly) a matter of days. After a straight-forward jazz approach on The Dreamer, I'm very excited by the sounds I've heard thus far on Blackmagic as Jose is branching out his sound. With cats like Flying Lotus and DJ Mitsu the Beats helming the boards, Jose has another winner on his hands. But, before a cut from BM, here is an amazing remix of his track Love from TD, remixed by Ben Westbeech (more on him in future posts).
one of the FlyLo/JJ collabos from BM, this one entitled Made for Love.

Fat Jon-14 Years
This track comes from Fat Jon's 1st solo opus, released under the pseudonym Maurice Galactica and entitled Humanoid Erotica. Mr. Jon Marshall hails from Cincy and in addition to a myrid of solo albums, collabos with the likes of J-Rawls, and various production for folks, he is part of the highly underrated Five Deez crew. 14 Years is perhaps my favorite track he has created (thus far at least) and is exemplary of the spacey-soul-jazz-hip hop style he blesses the listener's ears with.
